I spent a lot of time in Hawaii around this time (1996 or so). The best thing about Hawaii was the surfing! Well, the girls were pretty great, too. And I certainly got a lot of very good Japanese food there. I like macadamia nuts, as well.
Anyway, the surfing in Hawaii is really terrific. I never actually tried surfing, but as you can see from this picture, I spent a lot of time standing on the beach, yelling and twisting and pretending I was "hanging ten" with "the Big Kahuna."
