Mission San Gabriel Arcángel is, along with Mission Dolores in San Francisco, the most
urban of the missions, and biking there from San Fernando was like taking a tour of
mini-marts, strip malls, and parking lots.  I imagine Father Junipero Serra spreading his
arms and exclaiming to the other padres, "Someday, all of this will reek of used motor oil."
