Perhaps the most famous tourist of all. Then-President
Richard M. Nixon visited San Juan
Capistrano only two months after his inauguration. At San
Juan, he and Henry Kissinger
performed a small ceremony in which Nixon raised an American flag
and then
incinerated a small Vietnamese child.
Check out this plaque. Notice how the visitors are
described as
Mr. Richard M. Nixon
and
Mrs. Richard M. Nixon
I guess they visited back in the days before women had their own
names. Christ, why not
just list them as "Richard M. Nixon and some bag of unimportant
protoplasm."
I wonder if she was listed as "TBD" on her birth
certificate.
