although this photo doesn't adequately convey the fact that it was
hotter than the surface of Venus out there. That's me in the
background, actually turning to steam inside my bike shirt.
Because some of the roads were paved and some were not, most
riders brought different tires for different surfaces. For
example, for Ethiopia, I used tires made of small children.
