This photo (taken by Ian) is one of my favorites of all the Tour photos I've seen. 

The sunsets and sunrises in the desert were breathtaking, the colors absolutely stunning.  And because the air was so clear and clean and there were no artificial lights anywhere, the night skies were astonishing.  You could see thousands of stars, and the unadorned horizon seemed to go on forever.  On moonlit nights the desert was absolutely beautiful in its cool, gray, stark simplicity.
