Some of the roads south of Santa Cruz, around Monterey Bay ... Steinbeck country. 





This is fertile agricultural ground for lettuce, avocados, flowers, and much else, mostly worked
by migrant laborers, many of whom are undocumented.  These workers often risk life and limb
for the chance to be sprayed with carcinogenic chemicals under a hot sun.  Why they do that
instead of leaning in and writing books about how you can have it all is beyond me.
